Fig. 1 – Universe  EvolutionMy research activity is mainly based on the following topics: Cosmology, Particle Physics and astroparticle, Gravitation.

One of the greatest challenges in physics is nowadays to understand the nature of Dark Energy (DE), an unknown form of energy introduced for exaplaining the observed accelerating phase of the Universe (Fig. 1).

Fig.2 - Dark Energy,Dark Matter,Baryon MatterSpecifically DE is an unknown form of energy responsible for the observed acceleration of the present Universe (Fig. 2).

Recent observations point out it should constitute almost 75% of cosmic matter-energy budget, turning out that the so-called ”Dark Side” problem is far to be solved.

An approach to face this issue is to consider DE as the manifestation of the break-down of General Relativity on large scales, and consider possible modifications and generalization of the laws of the gravitation (the so called Extended theories of gravity).

Fig.3 - Matter-antimatter asymmetryAnother interesting problem related to cosmology and particle physics is the baryogenesis, i.e. the observed matter-antimatter (hence baryons-antibaryons) asymmetry in the Universe (Fig. 3).
