Optical microscopic pictures of fabricated comb-shaped Josephson junction array.During my scientific career I have designed and carried out scientific research in numerous areas of Theoretical Physics, with a specific focus in Condensed Matter Physics, Statistical Mechanics, Superconductivity, theoretical aspects of superconducting devices and exactly solvable systems.

Recently I have developed a special interest in building science into EU policy. I firmly believe that science is central to many aspects of modern life and that an appreciation of the scientific dimension is a pre-requisite to wise policy-making.

Therefore, I am interested in maximising the impact of evidence-based scientific advice into EU key policy priorities throughout the policy cycle, especially in the areas of Research and Energy.Energy policy directly affects everyone in Europe. The issues and challenges connected to this policy require action at European level
